Why did the Smart drop in MPG according to the EPA?

What is up with the drop in the Smart Cars MPG? It used to be ranked 33/42 by the EPA, now it is ranked as 34/38. Did this have something to do with the mandatory transmission software update?

    Mile per Gallon Rating:

[The drop in the miles per gallon rating is because Federal Standards changed the formula for mpg ratings on new vehicles.[/COLOR]

Too mad actual owners mileage cannot be used to compute these averages... I get 42-44 on a regular basis.

A lot of your MPG will depend on your right foot and how heavy it is.
